Top five celebrities devoting their lives to animal rights

Ingrid Newkirk, the founder of PETA said: „When it comes to pain, love, joy, loneliness, and fear, a rat is a pig is a dog is a boy. Each one values his or her life and fight the knife“. In the book „Animal liberation“, Peter Singers writes that basic principal of equality doesn’t require equal treatment, it requires equal consideration.


Among celebrities there are many animal rights advocates. They love animals as much as we do and have the power to inspire the public to join their movement and have their voices heard by companies and the governments.

1. Stella McCartney

This well-known designer and luxury brand owner, whose Falabella bag is a must-have in the wardrobe of every fashionista is one of the most famous animal advocate. She doesn’t use leather or fur in her designs and runs her business in an eco-friendly way. In addition, she promotes her non-meat diet.  

2. Leonardo DiCaprio

The foundation of this award-winning actor is dedicated to the „long-term health and well-being of all Earth inhabitants“ including animals. His foundation supports 65 organisations with more than 60 million USD in projects such as marine and wild life conservations.

3. Pamela Anderson

This actress strong believe is that one voice can really make a difference. Therefore, her foundation supports organisations and individuals that stand on the front lines in the protection of human and animal rights and the environment.  

4. Anne Hathaway

A strong supporter of the ‘cruelty-free movement’, Anne Hathaway ensures she does not wear any animal products on and off the set. She even threw the first all vegan celebrity wedding.   

5. Charlize Theron

Oscar-winning actor and PETA supporter Charlize Theron posed for the campaign with the slogan: 'If you wouldn’t wear your dog, please don’t wear any fur.'


Charlize says, “I grew up on a farm in South Africa, so I’ve always been surrounded by animals. I was raised by a mother who always had great compassion and respect towards animals. It was instilled in me. I grew up that way. So when I see dogs or other animals suffer, it’s just been something close to my heart.”
